A biblical exegiesis reveals a visionary Deity, a God who has disclosed himself in ethereal, intimate communication to legendary females. Teresa of Jesus was pierced by God’s arrow during transverberation, searing her soul. Also, Holy Spirit locutions freed her from emotional persecution. However, through obedience and prayer, women overcome. Teresa would always be a paradox. Margery’s peers labeled her a histrionic, yet God bestowed on her the gift of tears. Plus, hers was the first extant English mystic’s manuscript. The valiant Joan of Arc was led by her troops to crown an earthly king, but her true fealty was to her heavenly King, Jesus Christ. Moreover, Mary Magdalene, an illustrious female apostle, would be the inspiration for The Gospel of Mary. Through their Beloved, all these females were elucidated. These visionaries prevailed, conquered antagonistic cultures with revelatory victory. Jesus lifted the veil. Often antithetical to accepted ideology, they were nonetheless validated and liberated by their Beloved.

The start of this whole process is the first conversation. Attraction often happens within three minutes of your first meeting. Now here’s a secret that should make approaching and starting conversations with women a whole lot easier. During the initial encounter, who you are talking with is not the women herself, but a personality she is projecting. This means she is going to try to jam you up so she can be in control. Even if she is interested in you, she doesn’t want you to think she is “easy” or a slut. This means you should anticipate and expect resistance. It’s not directed toward you personally!

Deep down, every attractive woman has a quirky side. She won’t show it to you, but it’s there. If you know what you’re doing, you can prod, poke, tease and draw it out of here. Ever here a woman say, “It feels like I’ve known you for a long time” when you just meant her? It’s because you have tapped into this other side of her most people don’t know.

One way you can do that is to tease her in a funny way. I like to call attractive women brats. Men never dare do this. I find it not only shows her I am confident and not intimidated by her, but it also draws out her quirky side, which most men are oblivious to. If you’re first few attempts and approaching a women don’t work out perfectly, don’t sweat it. Treat it as a learning experience. Think of it this way. I love to smell good…actually I love to smell phenomenal! I like to feel like I’m the best smelling woman in the room. Now, don’t get me wrong I’m not talking about wreaking great, just “Dominque Deveraux” divine. I think every fashionista should have a signature scent period. And not just any fragrance, not the drug store cheese whiz perfume like Conquest Breeze by a fledgling celeb-or even the rooty tooty fresh and fruity scents from Bath and Body Works-save it for the teens who will one day grow up to to be us. I’m talking about the prettiest glamorous divalicious scents that you can only find at our fine department stores and/or perfumemania:-) I feel unless you have allergies there’s truly no excuse not to smell absolutely freakin’ incredible.

I personally adore Chanel fragrances. I’ve been wearing Coco Mademoiselle for six years and it never fails to put a smile on my face and bring men to their knees. It’s a floral oriental scent that’s sweet, sexy, and completely enraptures the senses. I feel naked without it. The 1.7 ounce retails for $80 and the 3.4 about $110. It’s a small price to pay for exclusivity. You can’t go wrong with any of Chanel’s perfumes including Allure, Chance, and of course Chanel no. 5 Lately, I’ve been tempted by European designers Viktor and Rolf’s Flowerbomb. It’s soooo sophisticated and elegant, and just smells…I feel like I’m wearing Jimmy Choo shoes and a couture Tracey Reese gown and I’m attending The Met Costume Gala in NY. Oh and I have an English accent. Yes, it’s that ridiculous. When people and small household pets catch a whiff they’re like ooooh what’s that you’re wearing? Flowerbomb price points begin at $95 for the small bottle, but it’s definitely worth it. Girlie girl fragrances such as Lovely by Sarah Jessica Parker is well… lovely. My Mom loves it. Vera Wang’s Very Pink is sheer romance, while Rock and Rose by Valentino is suprisingly scrumptious. Stella McCartney scores with Stella and Stella In Two Peony. One of my girlfriends can’t get enough of Gucci Eau De Parfum II. It’s a little heavy for me, but I must admit it leaves a lasting impression. Narcisco Rodriguez For Her reminds me of Sunday brunch in South Beach, it’s pretty chic.

There’s tons of fragrances out there to choose from, so choose the right one. Make sure you have plenty of time, patience, and coffee beans. Take a trip to your home away from home department store or Sephora and take a whiff or two. Wear the scent for about two hours to make sure you experience all the notes and see if it actually blends well with your chemistry. What works on your friend might not work for you. I thought my friend was the ultimate diva in Hanae Mori and wanted to try it for myself, unfortunately on me it dried down to a nice garden variety bug repellent. I was annoyed, because it took two showers to get rid of it. So be careful.

Time was that you had to visit a record store to get the music you wanted. Digital music has revolutionized the way we acquire and listen to music. Now when you want an album or even a single song, it’s as easy as pointing and clicking, waiting a few seconds for the download and you’re rockin’ and rollin’. Or groovin’ to the tunes. Or gettin’ down with the beat, etc., etc.

Oh, and check your downtown area for a local music store. You’re more likely to see a Starbucks or 7-Eleven.

MP3, or MPEG Audio Layer III, got its start in Germany in 1987 when the Fraunhofer Institut began doing research on the subject and started the EUREKA project EU147. Karlheinz Brandenburg, sometimes called The Father of MP3, explains how MP3 almost never got off the ground. The code, for some reason just would not work. Luckily, just before they were to submit the project to the Moving Picture Experts Group (MPEG) subcommittee, the group that oversees standards for the industry, they found the compilation error that was causing the problems.

A company called Fraunhofer-Gesellschaft now owns the patents and licenses the rights to its use.

The Technology - In Simple Terms

The amount of data or information in just one second of CD quality music is about 1.4 megabits or almost 1 and a half million pieces of information per second. MP3 technology compresses the file, shrinking its size to a more manageable 1/12 the original with almost no information loss. This means more information delivered more quickly to your MP3 player for better sound quality. So it’s not a matter of storage but a matter of transferring so much data in so little time. MP3 technology squishes that data so more of it fits into a smaller space, namely the pipeline from your player through the wire connecting to your ear piece.

MP3 Players

The first successful MP3 player was developed by Tomislav Uzelac in 1997. and was called AMP MP3 Playback Engine. A year later, two university students, Justin Frankel and Dmitry Boldyrev ported it to the Windows platform to create WinAmp. Frauenhofer was actually first to create the player but the software was unsuccessful.

Now we have all manner of choices for our listening enjoyment. With offerings from Sony, Apple, Panasonic, Samsung and more, we have an endless array of players, with a multitude of features like phones, video, internet and others too numerous to mention here.

The Industry

Taking full advantage of this new technology, Napster picked up the MP3 ball and ran with it. I would have been surprised if someone hadn’t come up with the idea. The still growing community of Napsterites was able to use MP3 technology to listen to their own music and share it with anybody who had an internet connection. While this was great for the community, not to mention Napster, the music industry was less thrilled with it. They reasoned: Nobody is going to buy music when they can share it for free… They had a point. Napster still has free music but has changed its policy in response to the industry’s reaction. You’ll need to purchase a song if you want to listen to it more than 3 times.

For The Consumer

MP3 brings with it a freedom that no other music technology has before. The devices are small enough to bring anywhere. They fit so much music into such a tiny space, you never have to hear the same song twice or carry boxes of tapes or cd’s. If you do need to update your collection, more songs are an internet connection away. No searching through stacks and stacks of records or tapes to find a song. Pull up a menu, highlight your selection and your good to go!

The Digital Music Revolution has changed the way we buy and listen to the music we love. We can take our music wherever we go, never missing a beat. The technology behind MP3 no doubt isn’t finished in its tinkerings and soon enough we’ll have yet another incarnation to astonish us with its amazing breakthroughs and its somehow even higher quality sound. I don’t know what direction this new technology will take but if I could guess, I would say it involves surgery. I’ve been wrong before though.

Well, I have to go into town to run some errands now so I’ll be off now, heading out on the open road. I think I’ll pop in an 8-track and listen to some Grateful Dead.
