Five Places to Avoid Hanging Art

Saturday, November 10th, 2007

You’ve finally moved into your new home and have bought some art prints to decorate your walls. Well, finding places to hang art is easy. However there are certain places you should try to avoid hanging art for reasons of prolonging the life of the art print and also for the safety of your family members and visitors. This article will give you some pointers on places you should try to avoid hanging your art pieces if possible.

1. Narrow and dark corridors

Some homes, especially small apartments, have narrow and dark corridors leading from the living area to the bedrooms. As someone walking along the corridor will be of very close proximity to the walls, an art piece hanging there could be unnoticeable. If you still want to hang art in this area, stick to small art pieces, and group several of them together to add a nice balance. If the corridor is dark, use some lighting to bring focus to them. This will make the art pieces more noticeable to your visitors. Try not to use a large art piece in this area, as large pieces are better appreciated from a distance. Another thing to be concerned about when hanging art in small and narrow spaces is safety; avoid hanging it in an area where someone could accidentally knock it off the wall while walking by, causing damage to the frame and also hurting himself. To avoid someone brushing against the art piece and knocking it off, you could put a small side table against the wall to create some space between the art piece and human traffic.

2. Next to your child’s bed

If you want to hang art pieces in your child’s bedroom, avoid hanging it next to his bed or cot (If the bed is against the wall). If it is not hung high enough, your child could easily reach out and accidentally dislodge it from the wall, thereby hurting himself. Hang the art pieces in areas where your child can’t easily reach them. Also, try to use small and light art pieces just in case your child dislodges it and it falls on him. To be on the safe side, you can avoid framing the art prints that you want to hang in the baby’s room. Although this may look “poster” like, it will definitely give you peace of mind that your child is safe.

3. Kitchen

You might see it often in interior design magazines. Hanging art in the kitchen could make it look a lot more beautiful. But for practical reasons, I would advise against doing that. This is especially so if you cook regularly. The oil and grease coming from the cooking could be damaging for your art in the long run. Try hanging it elsewhere; the dining area, if it is outside the kitchen, will be a good choice. If you still want to hang your art in the kitchen, you can do that but you should frame it with a good quality frame, and you also need to maintain it regularly by cleaning off the grease and grime that might accumulate over time.

4. Avoid hanging an art piece next to a mirror

Avoid hanging an art piece right next to a mirror. People almost always prefer to look at their own reflection rather than at art, no matter how beautiful it is. The mirror will pull attention away from the art piece. But that said; putting an art piece next to a mirror is still somewhat subjective. Some people do it and it still looks quite pleasant.

5. Anywhere that’s in the path of direct sunlight

Avoid putting your art anywhere that’s in the direct path of sunlight. The long term effects of sunrays could cause discoloring and fading of your art piece. Put it in an area that’s shaded from direct sunlight, and use creative lighting to bring attention to it. Choose a good quality frame with ultraviolet filtering glass for extra protection against UV light.

There you have it! I hope the above pointers will help you in every little way to prolong the lifespan of your art pieces so that you, your family and friends can enjoy them for the years to come. Enjoy your art!

Give Yourself the Comfort of Transportation with Cheap Car Loans

Saturday, November 10th, 2007

A car is a must have in one’s day to day life. More than just a means of transport, it is now a lifeline and people are attracted to different cars for different reasons. When in need of money to buy a new car, an old one or just exchange one’s current car, a cheap car loan is the best option.

The monthly installments for most car loans are friendly and affordable. One can also get attractive discounts of over 30% on some selected models through special schemes that banks provide. The services bundled along with the car purchase also include benefits like tire replacements, driver assistance and several other maintenance options.

The process for applying for a cheap car loan is relatively easier on the internet. Here, one’s privacy is maintained as the personal information provided is never leaked. Also, it becomes much easier to compare rates and choose the desired plan that best suits one’s needs. It should be ascertained that the details one provides are accurate as discrepancies might cause delay in the cheap car loan process. It is important to do the required research work beforehand.

The amount that can be borrowed through a cheap car loan can be up to £5000, for a new or old car.

The repayment term ranges from 12 months to 60 months. A “guaranteed future deposit” depends on the model of the car, annual mileage and how long the car is used. This generally takes care of the depreciation value. The monthly installment is reduced because of the deduction of this.

There are more often than not, no hidden costs, the person has to pay only what he has borrowed.

One can make use of any of the following three options after the term runs out.
Choose another car, pay the remaining amount, and simply return the car thus clearing all debts.

Other things to remember with respect to cheap car loans are;
• Cars are considered brand new unless specified. Manufacturer warranties are provided.
• You can get financed even if you have your own sources for negotiation.
• Only a franchise dealer can finance a used car, not a private dealer.
The agreement can be settled at any stage, and one can change to a new car whenever desired.

Switching Broadband Providers

Friday, November 9th, 2007

For millions of broadband users who may be tempted by a better deal from another provider, the fear has always been that of being stuck in an “internet-less limbo”, waiting until their new service is switched on.

Thankfully, changes to the way switches take place have dramatically improved the situation.

On 14 February 2007, Ofcom introduced a code of conduct for moving between broadband service providers called the MAC Code of Conduct.

If they wish to switch, broadband customers need a Migration Authorisation Code (MAC). The Migration Authorisation Code is a 17 to 19-digit unique identifier code consisting of both letters and numbers.

MACs usually begin with “BBIP”, “FTIP”, “BBDS”, or “BBDP”, and consist of 4 letters, 7 numbers (sometimes up to 9), a forward slash, 2 letters, 2 numbers, and 1 final letter.

Once requested, your internet provider should provide you the MAC code within 5 working days. This code will then be valid for 30 days in which the customer may switch broadband providers. While it should not take any longer than 10 working days to switch your broadband, there is no set limit imposed on broadband providers to switch you to a new provider and it can take up to 5 weeks.

Your internet service provider cannot refuse your request for a MAC code and must not charge you for the code either. This was introduced to help ease the process of switching your broadband and also allowing the switch to be done in just a few hours resulting in a temporary loss of internet.

The only exceptions for refusal are as follows:

• The account holder does not comply with standard checks by the ISP
• A contract is already terminated
• The MAC has already been requested
• The ISP has already submitted a cease request
• The ISP is unable to obtain a MAC from ISP whom customer is switching to

These rules were set by Ofcom, although, some broadband providers have been known to bend the rules just a little.

This has led some questions about whether some broadband service providers try and make it as difficult as possible for you to switch.

Even though broadband providers must comply with the rules, most providers will try to convince you to stay. They may question you about who you wish to move to and your reasons why and single out comparisons between themselves and their competitor in an attempt to hold on to you as a customer.

In some cases they may offer you something in return for your loyalty as a customer, for example a free upgrade to a higher level of service.

From your perspective, if you are satisfied with the level of service on offer from your existing provider, it always makes sense to listen to any offers that are made.

However, if you are determined to switch, you should so – and the new MAC system should make it a lot easier to do so.

If you are interested in taking advantage of current broadband internet technology then you should compare many broadband providers available in your area.

Two Men With A Specific Purpose Are Determined To Succeed

Friday, November 9th, 2007

Paul and Barnabas, two pioneers with a specific and particular purpose, are travelling inland to Pisidian Antioch, in modern day Turkey.

They are apostles, missionaries, preachers, teachers – use whatever word you wish – but the important thing is that no matter where they went to minister people did come to believe in Jesus Christ, and others caused trouble and pain for these two men. Read the details of their experiences in Acts Chapter 13 in the New Testament. They witnessed revival and riot. The two often happen alongside each other.

There was a harvest in Antioch, but they had to move on. They travel to Iconium, and there these two men of God return to the synagogue and speak to those gathered about Jesus. They were effective. A great number of Jews and Gentiles believed, but the Jews who refused to believe stirred up the Gentiles and poisoned their minds against the brothers.

We are not long into any type of ministry, when we come across this type of behaviour. We see it in the ministry of Jesus. We read of it in the very early days and weeks of the Church. Now we see it, even when The Holy Spirit has specifically spoken, and when men have been commanded to go with the Gospel – this wonderful good news that Jesus Christ forgives sin and set men free from all kinds of bondages.

One significant and vital lesson which we do learn, is that it is hard to remain neutral. People are either for Jesus, or they are against Jesus.

When we hear - really hear about Jesus - and what God says about us - that we are sinners - needing to repent - and come to faith - and be baptised in water and filled with the Holy Spirit - we either open ourselves to all of that - or resist and rebel and get up to all sorts of kinds of things - sometimes in the nicest possible way - sometimes not.

Paul and Barnabas are not all that long into their ministry and they have faced serious trouble in Cyprus, and now this.

They could have said, and perhaps with good cause, “We are going no further. We are doing no more preaching, Jesus. If that is how you are going to allow us to be treated as we obey YOU, then, Jesus, we have had enough. Get someone else to do this work.” But no - Barnabas and Paul are driven on. Paul belonged to Jesus Christ. His initial meeting with Jesus was so vivid and so real. Now, he is motivated by a deep concern and real love, and the energising power of The Holy Spirit.

This was so real to Paul, and all he wants to do for the remainder of his life, is go and preach to the lost. His desire was to speak about Jesus, and if people chose to give him a rough time, then he knew that they would be judged for that one day - just as he too would be judged if he did NOT obey his LORD.

Apostles - prophets - preachers - persecutors - will all one day appear before the judgment seat of Jesus Christ.

Paul decides to remain a little longer, and to preach boldly for the Lord, and Jesus Christ honoured this decision by giving this team that ability and power to do signs and wonders.

Iconium was divided in the same way our world is divided today - not between rich and poor - or black and white - but between those who believe in Jesus Christ and those who do not believe in Jesus Christ. That is the real dividing line. The other matters which divide are serious - yes - but this is the most serious.

Those who are resisting the love of Jesus, plot and plan against Paul and Barnabas. There is a conspiracy. Evil grows, and evil, or wickedness, likes to draw in others, and involve others. Get as many involved as possible, and we won’t look so bad! That happened in the Garden of Eden and in the Garden of Gethsemane.

Now it was time for Paul and Barnabas to move out and to move on, yet again, but not to run away.

The goal of those opposing the Gospel of Jesus Christ was to ill-treat and stone the preachers - to death.

Sometimes it is right to stay - sometimes it is right to move on - even to flee. Sometimes it takes courage to stay - sometime it takes more courage to flee. We have to find out what God’s Will is for us, in various situations. But to fulfil God’s Will will always take courage.

If you feel death may be facing you, and your work for God is not over - move on. There were occasions when people sought to kill Jesus and He just quietly slipped away, because His Work was not yet completed - His time had not yet come. But when the time was right, He willingly laid down His Life, and allowed Himself to be betrayed - and arrested - and falsely accused - and illegally tried - and cruelly crucified as a criminal. The only Beloved Son of God the Father permitted all that to happen.

And yet - it is that horrible, horrendous, and humanly speaking tragic act, which lies at the heart of our being saved - being washed and forgiven - and rescued from sin - and offered eternal life. The purest of men experiencing agonising pain - an innocent Man took upon Himself - my guilt - my wrongs - my errors - my sins.

Only Almighty God can take what is ugly, and make it beautiful. God can take what is cruel and pour His Mercy through that.

Shopping around for a cheap broadband deal always makes good sense. But the reality is that that every cheap broadband deal will have its pros and cons.

While you may get the great benefits of one aspect, you may find disappointment in another. Therefore, when choosing a broadband provider, you must make sure it is one that suits your needs.

The following five broadband providers offer some cheap broadband deals:

One thing you must remember when choosing your broadband provider is that most offers speeds of up to 8Mbit/s. However, the 8Mbit/s speed is impossible to achieve, as technical factors – such as your computer’s distance from the exchange or how many people are accessing the internet at the same time – will slow things down.

Download caps are very important too: whether you are a light user or a hardcore online gamer, you must consider this aspect to avoid extra unnecessary charges.

Remember that sometimes cheap broadband isn’t always the best solution for everyone. You may need to pay that little bit extra to save yourself money in the long run.

At the end of the day there are enough cheap broadband deals to suit almost everyone, it’s just a matter of comparing – both price and the quality of service you receive.

If you are interested in taking advantage of current broadband internet technology then you should compare many broadband providers available in your area.

Uk Cheap Personal Loan - Low Rate Finance Ensured

Friday, November 9th, 2007

In the UK, a borrower can find personal loan of his or her requirements as suits to personal circumstances. The borrowers’ focus while searching for a suitable deal is usually interest rate on the loan. Surely you look for cheap a personal loan that is easier on your financial capability. There are hosts of lenders in the UK loan marketplace who are providing personal loan at cheaper rate of interest. There loan availing cost also is low. The UK lenders provide personal loans for any use such as home improvements, wedding, holiday tour, buying a new car and debt consolidation.

To ensure personal loan at cheap rate of interest, you should be cutting risks for the lender. You can do that by pledging home or any property as collateral. Since you are now less risky a borrower, lenders offer personal loan at cheap rate. Also note that the lender reduces interest rate if borrowed amount is less than the value of property you pledged as collateral as lenders feel more safe.

In case you have no property or do not want put it to risk, still a personal loan is available. Such a loan is called unsecured personal loan. But interest rate on unsecured loan is higher. But can you get an unsecured loan at cheap rate? The answer is no. but still if your credit history is excellent or good, you can find a lender having comparatively lower rate offer, which will make it a cheaper loan.

Also note that a secured or unsecured personal loan at cheaper rate comes from online lenders since banks and financial companies have higher rates. So you should opt for online lenders. One way to cheap rate is to first take rate quotes of the lenders and compare which lender has lower rate for your circumstances. Rate comparison also is useful for bad credit people to find out a comparatively lower rate loan. Online lenders have little charges on processing personal loans which makes it cheap. One can say that cheap persona loans in the UK are source of easy to repay finance.

Why Framing Your Art Is Important

Friday, November 9th, 2007

Many people believe that when they choose a frame for an art print, they should pick one that is aesthetically pleasing to the eye. While aesthetics is important, many overlook the true reason for framing an art piece – protection. A well chosen frame will not only enhance the art work and make it look good; it will also protect the material and increase its lifespan for the years to come.

A beautiful art piece, when left unprotected, can sustain unsightly damage over time, and become an eyesore in your home.

Here are some of the more common damages to your art print:

A decorative art print, when simply stuck on the wall without any form of framing, could start to show damage in as little as a few weeks. The material could tear along the corners or edges. This is because the print has been in a rolled up state for most of its life - when it was in the merchant store before you bought it. When you try to spread the print open to stick on the wall, the paper is still trying to roll into itself. The adhesive tape that you’ll probably use will not be strong enough to prevent the print from creasing in on itself, thus causing the tears.

The other concern you should be worried about is fading or discoloring. If an unprotected art print is exposed to the elements like direct sunlight, the ultraviolet effects could cause the paper to discolor and become brittle, thus tearing easily. Over time, dust and moisture in the air will also cause a great deal of damage to the print.

Here are some things you should do to prevent damage to your art print.

Choose a professional framing service to frame your art print. Note that some framing materials contain acids that may cause damage to the art piece, so make sure the frame shop provides acid free backings, mats and mounting materials so that damage to your art print is avoided. Choose a UV filtering glass to give the art work extra protection from ultraviolet light. Make sure to use proper hanging materials to mount your art on the wall. Never display your art piece in direct sunlight or near a heat source. UV light, as mentioned, will certainly cause fading and discoloring of your art print.

Maintain your art piece regularly by cleaning it with a soft and damp cloth. Never spray cleaning fluid directly on the glass. The fluid may seep in and cause damage. Get rid of the dust and clean the glass to remove any stains like grease or fingerprints. A simple decision in framing will certainly go a long way in preserving the life of your art print. It truly is a small investment for a lifelong return.

Happy framing!
