Is A Baby Rocker Good For Your Baby?

A baby rocker is the perfect gadget for the energetic baby to amuse itself so that its parents can get a little break from time to time. But to go out there are and find the best and safest baby rocker can be quite a workload. There are thousands of products and not nearly all of them meet the regulations for safety and quality that you surely want for your baby.

The Swedish company Baby Bjorn has been working with baby and toddler products since the sixties, and they are sold all over the world because of their modern designs, high quality and big demands on safety issues. They have won international awards for their products.

The baby rocker Baby Bjorn is an item that you and your baby will find very useful, and that a baby can grow with up to three years of age (yes, it’s true).

The baby’s own movements and gestures sets the Baby Bjorn baby rocker in a smooth motion, even if the if it’s really small movements, it moves smoothly. It creates an anatomically right movement for the baby and in days he has learned to increase the movements himself. It’s really funny to see the baby going wild and rocking in the chair and then just gentle move it to take a nap in. No batteries required or strange things like that; you will not have some monotonic movements over and over again, the baby will decide the movement itself, and will quickly learn how to do it as well.

At the Baby Bjorn Inc., safety has always been a main priority and their products goes through rigorous tests by independent test institutes. Same thing goes for the baby rocker. Anti skid pads keeps it from sliding on the floor, and the fabric seat is made from heave weight cotton, but still soft and comfy for your baby. The restraint system is a three point waist belt, comfortable and well tested for ultimate safety.

Origin from Scandinavia myself I have noticed that battery driven baby rockers are common, and I find that a bit strange. With the Baby Bjorn rocker the baby sets the movements itself, and can control it. I’ve found with my children (been blessed with three) likes to rest in the Baby Bjorn rocker and sets the movements itself. The learn very fast how to control it, and there’s no strange strange sounds from a battery driven item in the baby rocker. It’s lovely to see the little on rest and relax in the rocker.

Remember to let the baby get used bit by bit with the baby rocker. The babies spine is not fully developed from the beginning and needs to get used to the baby rocker. With the Baby Bjorn baby rocker comes guidelines on how to use it, so you can be sure that you use it correctly in the beginning.

6 Simple And Easy Ways You Can Help a Baby Sleep

Is your newborn giving you fits every time you put her down to sleep? Do you feel like you could star in the next blockbuster zombie movie if it keeps up for even a single night longer?

Don’t feel too bad, most new parents go through it. Fortunately, there are a few simple and easy things you can do to help As long as your little one’s sleep issues have no medical roots, there are plenty of ideas out there to help. There are even some great and rather unusual ideas, too.

But first things first though.

If you are having trouble getting her to catch a full 20 winks, make sure nothing is wrong. If her bedroom isn’t too hot or too cold, her clothing isn’t too tight or too loose, there is nothing physically wrong, and she is properly fed, move on to other options.

Some of the more off the wall ideas to try that actually have some results include:

* Massage. This is becoming a more common way to get even the tiniest of newborns down for the night. A simple, gentle massage or even patting can go a long way toward helping you to get baby to sleep. Don’t think deep tissue massage for a newborn, just a simple rub down in a soothing environment often helps greatly.

* White noise. This is an oldie, but a goodie. Basic background noises that don’t demand attention can really help you help baby sleep. Thinks like ceiling fans, special tapes and even dolls that play white noise can all help a great deal.

* The washing machine. It is not at all unheard of for parents of newborns to place their little ones in their car seats on top of running washing machines. The gentle movement (as long as the washer is balanced) coupled with the noise tends to sooth some little ones greatly.

* Warm sheets. Babies do not like to be cold. After all, they have spent roughly nine months is a pretty hot environment. To ensure you don’t set her down on a too cold surface, consider turning up the temperature in her room a little more or even getting flannel crib sheets.

* Swaddling. This is an old wife’s trick that works wonders. New parents are sometimes set aback by this one though. Swaddling involves nothing more than special clothing or blanket wrapping that keeps her arms and legs held in tight - just like they were in the womb in her last days inside. This is a great way to not only help baby sleep, but to calm her when she’s upset.

* Music. Think beyond regular lullabies. Some babies actually prefer slightly louder music. This tends to be especially the case if mom and dad listened to loud music a lot while she was in the womb. Rock and roll beats won’t destroy baby’s mind. Just make sure the volume isn’t turned up so loud to hurt her ears.

Learning how to help baby sleep sometimes requires thinking outside of the box. Be creative with your ideas. As long as they won’t hurt her and they don’t jeopardize her safety while she’s sleeping, they are worth trying. If it works, you’ll thank yourself for being creative. But what works for one baby might not necessarily for another. The trick is to find what works for your little one and stick with it.

Why Only Baby Boy Names?

Dear friends,

Guess, no happiness can match the feeling of becoming a parent. It’s quite understandable that a mom loves her child may be because she has been carrying her baby for over nine long months and during this period she feels her baby day in and day out. The little movements of her limbs (I have referred the child here as “her”), her heart beats, sometimes kicking and pushing movements against her belly all add to the emotional involvement of the mom to her baby. And finally, the un-bearable pain associated with the delivery of the baby makes her a perfect ‘god’s gift’ to the mother!

But, strangely the father of the baby also finds this ‘god’s gift’ extremely beautiful, may be un-paralleled! And why not? The baby brings in so much of happiness and joy all around her. It’s like magic and it’s beyond comparison. Guess, only who have become parents can feel the ecstasy of being parents. May God, shower this happiness to all those who have been dying to become parents…amen!

And does it really matter whether she is a baby boy or baby girl?

Think again!!!

Those you have actually read this article, I would like to know from them that after having a girl child in their hands for the first time, how did they feel? Did they feel that it would have been better had they had a boy child? Didn’t that child delight you amazingly, a feeling that probably, can’t be expressed in words!

I am really curious to know how important is the gender of a new born baby, because for me, the happiness is boundless and all it takes is a innocent baby, gender being irrelevant.

Cheers!

The Newest Baby Stroller Trend?

So what’s all the fuzz about different strollers, for some years ago, a baby stroller was something you used to push your baby around in, but now it seem to be a fashion accessory.

Well, the latest baby stroller trend seems to be the Bugaboo stroller, is it any good or just a celebrity hyped device used by Hollywood celebs?

It’s meant to appeal to the active, modern parent who wants to get around, whether it’s the subway, pram, woods, sandy beach or whatever terrain you want to walk in.

The prize tag is at least something that can be a bit eye watering at first, but the question is, is it worth it?

Well, the parents who use it claims it’s the best invention since the car, because it’s light weight, but still stable. The seat and carrycot is reversible, so when the baby grows and wants to look around and not facing you, it’s easy to turn around in one grip. And, it really does have some very inventive features, and it’s obvious that the designers of the Bugaboo are active parents themselves, and developed a stroller they would want themselves. One thing that has never been seen on another stroller before its the ability to move the seat up and down vertically, so that the baby can sit at a table-high position and join you at the table if you want to have a comfortable position when feeding your baby outside sitting on a bench or similar.

The swivel like wheels make the Bugaboo stroller very easy to maneuver, so you don’t have to push the handle down to get the front wheels up when turning, this is very handy, and after using a stroller like that it feels really uncomfortable to drive the “normal” stroller with fixed wheels.

The Carrycot is approved for use for overnight sleeping, good if you are on a trip or the baby is going to stay the night at grandma’s. The Pushchair seat can also be used as a seat on the floor or the ground, like a baby bouncer seat. The handle bar is height adjustable, it will be comfortable for both mom and dad to walk around with. The underseat bag is bigger then it was before, so you have room for shopping bags or baby items. It will fit in the smallest car, because it doesn’t take much space when folded together. The seat frame is longer than on a normal stroller, so will fit a longer baby and taller child, a really nice feature.

So is this really the Rolls Royce of stroller some claim it to be? Yes, probably. It’s a bit costy indeed, but should be looked upon as an investment, because with it’s high quality construction you can use it for as long as you need to have your child in a stroller.

The Little Bugaboo Frog Stroller – Excellent, Or A Hyped Celebrity Item?

The bugaboo Frog stroller is nowadays a quite common site on the streets, and it’s a bit eye striking with its peculiar look. One thing to notice is that it looks very convenient, with it’s small size it must be very easy to manoeuvre in most environments.
So can it live up to its rumour as the coolest and best stroller on the market?
Well, the parents using the bugaboo Frog stroller seem to be full of love for the little froggy, so we decided to take a look at the Bugaboo Frog stroller.
You can assume that the designers behind the Bugaboo Frog stroller are parents themselves, because there are some really smart features about it that we liked.

The most obvious one, is that it’s reversible from front to sideways to back, a feature that we found really fun for the baby. When the baby gets bigger and want to look around a bit, you can turn the seat around in one easy grip. Another really good feature with the Bugaboo Frog stroller is that you can move the seat or carrycot vertically. This means that you can set the seat in table-high position, a very good thing if you are outside and wants to sit down to feed your little one, and the baby can participate sitting with you at the table in a café or restaurant.

The Bugaboo Frog stroller is said to be easy manoeuvred just about anywhere, So we tried. Because it’s light weight and the swivel like wheels makes it easy to turn and walk in a busy environment, it was. We took it on the bus through the city in rush hour, and later on to the beach. Especially the beach part was impressing, it was no struggle at all to move it around in the sand.

The handle bar is height adjustable, and the under seat bag is bigger then before; good for shopping or storage. It takes up very little space when folded together, it fits easily even in the smallest car. The seat frame is 2 inches longer so it will fit a longer baby and taller child, a really good and thoughtful thing. Some other features we enjoyed, was that the carrycot is approved for use for overnight sleeping, good if you are on a trip. The stroller seat can be used as a seat on the floor or the ground as well.

We found that the Bugaboo Frog stroller really keeps its promises as a modern, safe, convenient stroller, that can easily be moved around in many different places, urban, countryside, on the beach.

The price (about 900 $) was something to digest at first, but on the other hand this is really a good investment, and you won’t need another stroller for as long as you have babies and toddlers in your house.

Excessive Infant Crying

Your infant’s cries pierce your ear drums as your head throbs with an overdue headache and your pulse races to keep up with your tense nerves. Your child has been crying non-stop for over an hour and you don’t know why. You feel powerless; unable to help your tender little bundle…Sound familiar? Does your child suffer from excessive infant crying?

Infant colic—a term used to describe an infant who cries uncontrollably for more than three hours a day and for more than three days a week—can be a serious problems for new and seasoned parents alike. Though excessive infant crying is not normally a serious condition for babies, it can be very distressing for parents and caretakers.

The cause for colic is not yet known, however, the most popular belief points its finger at gas pain. Though gas pain is a legitimate issue with newborns—especially if they don’t get those little burps out after every feeding—it does not always lead to excessive infant crying. Infants could also cry due to feelings of insecurity.

When my little bundle arrived, I couldn’t have been happier! However, a couple issues kept me from fully enjoying his first few months home: 1- I could not get him to burp using the usual, traditional techniques, and 2- After a few weeks, I still could not get him to sleep more than 2-3 hours at most during the night. Luckily, he didn’t suffer from excessive infant crying (as defined with “infant colic” above); however, the aforementioned problems did lead to crying bouts and an unhappy mother and child.

Anyways, after doing some researching and testing out various techniques through books and videos, I was able to solve both of these problems. I found a great way to keep him firmly swaddled and feeling secure throughout the night—which kept him sleeping longer—and I discovered a couple of new ways to burp him other than over the shoulder or over the knees.

I compiled the information and a few products I found on a website. If you are having difficulties with your newborn and you are looking for a way to cure their colic, stop their excessive infant crying, help them sleep through the night, or whatever the issue may be, please look into it. There just might be something there to help you and baby thoroughly enjoy your first few months together.

Also, please remember, what may work for one child will not necessarily work for another. If you do not find any information on this site than that can help you and your child, please don’t give up and keep looking! There is bound to be something out there that can help you get through the tough times so you—and baby—can enjoy these priceless first few months rather than live with the headache and stress colic can bring.

Get Rid Of Diaper Rash Once And For All!

Your baby needs not suffer from the irritation of diaper rash! As a loving parent and guardian, while you attempt to do your very best for your children, there are baby products with harsh ingredients being sold on the market. As a parent who has the innate desire to gain and apply as much wisdom as possible for your baby’s greatest good, come to know that your child’s baby skin care is a topic of importance. Your decisions in buying diaper rash products can affect your child’s health.

Baby Skin Care Research

A current report in Clinical Pediatrics reveals that more than seventy-five percent of newborns suffer rashes within the first few months of birth. Researchers suspect that contributing factors include the very products that promise to help babies’ skin. They note in their research, “Newborn skin is relatively more permeable to topically applied agents than adult skin. Therefore, the risk of systemic toxicity is much greater in newborns.” If parents stop to read labels of supermarket and drug store baby skin care products, they will find that:

Many contain ingredients likely to be contaminated with formaldehyde, 1,4-dioxane, and possibly even nitrosamines, all of which are cancer-causing, highly irritating or both. Baby talc-based powders contain tiny particles that irritate the skin and may contain perfumes, a leading cause of allergy and irritation. Parents would be wise to avoid baby powders containing talc. Although baby powders are most frequently applied to diaper rash, there can be better ways. Also, most pediatricians specializing in natural skin care warn parents to avoid petroleum jelly, which traps moisture against the skin and is also a common allergen.

Healthy Baby Skin Care

A parent would be wise to use baby skin care products free of artificial colors, synthetic fragrances and petrochemicals, which are themselves irritants. Look for pure baby skin care products that are pH balanced with natural healing herbal extracts and essential oils such as Calendula, Aloe and Chamomile. Baby friendly healing herbs to look for in diaper rash cream and diaper rash ointment include:

Calendula: Calendula provides anti-inflammatory and anti-microbial activities and stimulates cellular regeneration of healthy skin.

Aloe: Aloe Vera helps restore tissue integrity and provides soothing anti-inflammatory and anti-oxidant properties.

Chamomile: Chamomile inhibits the release of histamine and decreases the inflammatory response. It stimulates cellular regeneration of healthy skin.

Rose Hip: Rose Hip contains high levels of vitamin C and bioflavonoids which strengthen blood vessel walls, increasing vascular resistance and integrity and thus improving skin circulation.

Evening Primrose Oil, Sunflower Oil: These cold-pressed oils provide the essential fatty acids omega-3 (linolenic acid) and omega-6 (linoleic acid) as well as GLA (gamma-linolenic acid), important modulators of the inflammatory response. Help regulate epidermal proliferation and desquamation of the skin.

Carrot Seed Oil: Carrot Seed Oil is an exceptional moisturizer for skin care and promotes healthy cellular regeneration.

Sambucus: Sambucus (Elderflower) promotes healing of skin conditions and reduces inflammation associated with allergies.

Vitamin A: Vitamin A is necessary for the growth and repair of body tissues and helps maintain healthy skin integrity. It improves the resistance of the skin and mucous membranes to chemical and physical irritants.

Vitamin C and Bioflavonoids: Vitamin C and bioflavonoids work synergistically to strengthen connective tissue in blood vessel walls, thereby increasing vascular resistance and integrity, and improving circulation. Vitamin C’s anti-oxidant action provides photo-protective effects against UVB-induced damage in human epithelial cells. It supports immune and endocrine system function.

Vitamin E: Vitamin E is a powerful anti-oxidant that helps retard cellular aging associated with free-radical damage. Protects the skin against UV-induced inflammation and maintains skin hydration. It regulates abnormal proliferation of the superficial skin layers.

Baby Skin Care Tip

So what is the most sensible approach when it comes to baby skin care?
Parents, your basic baby skin care common sense message is: In the beginning months of life, let Mother Nature do her job without your newborn baby having to cope with chemicals. Allow fresh air to get to your baby’s bottom whenever you can and change your baby’s diaper often! This will reduce the likelihood of diaper rash. Pediatricians also recommend avoiding antibacterial soaps. Use skincarebaby.com natural skin care products that avoid toxic preservatives, foaming agents and other potentially hazardous ingredients. These products may be a little more expensive than the drug or supermarket brands but they are completely safe, truly natural and nontoxic. It would be best to consider these baby skin care principles when you use any other types of products in your baby’s environment as well. I don’t believe you will go wrong with this very simple baby skin care message.

How Kids Learn

In today’s world, with children beginning school even younger, and classes getting harder, you no longer just want to give your child a head start in any way possible, you absolutely NEED to. Every parent is quite aware that the rate at which their child grows is amazing, and the rate with which they develop is absolutely incredible! One cannot help but be fascinated when watching the development of a child physically and intellectually.

I’ve spent quite a few years now around kids, my own in particular. With everything from a very premature child, to 2 autistic children, two things have been crystalline in clarity. 1) Parents, and other adults in the household, are the first persons in which a child will learn from. 2) Children play to learn, and learn through playing. This easily teaches us all that in order to help our children learn, it is all about letting them play.

While it may seem daunting to begin, it is really quite simple. A child learns through every interaction with the world. With play, each and every time they play, they’re learning something new. In order to facilitate their learning, we must provide activities, and toys which stimulate their interest and provide learning while they are having fun. Toys which keep a child’s interest and are geared at learning can be easily found, and a slight step better, you can find toys which are not just geared towards learning, but are even created with a child’s specific developmental age and even specific areas they may need help in.

Start simply by assessing your child’s developmental level. Remember, not all kids are going to fit perfectly by the standards. Once you know where that approximate level is, start searching for toys which promote learning, as well as provide fun. Pretend play toys, for example, are excellent for almost any age, or developmental level. Find some learning toys that fit your bill, and then, well, get to playing!

Sing A Song and Learn New Words

Did you know you remember what you learn better if you use more of your senses during the learning? It’s true, the more of your five senses you can engage in the learning process, the more likely you are to remember the information. This is because your brain builds multiple pathways to the information. Using music to learn new words is a great way to create “stickiness” for those words. You can help your children increase their vocabularies by encouraging them to sing. Here are some ideas.

1. When your children are babies, sing them to sleep with lullabies. You don’t have to be a great singer. Babies love the sounds of their parent’s voices. Just cuddle and give a soft version of “Hush, Little Baby Don’t Say a Word”.

2. Toddlers love funny, silly, rhyme-filled songs. Sing while you march around the house or during bath time. Encourage your child to sing with you while you drive or cook dinner. Favorites like “Old McDonald Had a Farm” where you can have your child fill in the next animal are terrific at strengthening vocabulary recall. Toddlers also appreciate songs with accompanying action like the “Itsy Bitsy Spider”. Singing is loads of fun and giggles for everyone and a good way for children to practice the sounds of our language.

3. Put on a record of your favorite singer and sing along. Dance around the living room pretending you are “Live on-stage”. Have your children join in.

4. Watch a Broadway musical on DVD or tape. Once your family has seen the movie, get the CD and sing along. Have each family member sing one of the character roles and everybody join in for the chorus.

5. Encourage your child to join a choir at church or school. Your child will learn words associated with your belief system from the music designed to accompany your church celebrations. School choirs often perform a variety of music with a diversity of vocabulary springing from the source and topic of the songs.

6. Sing along with the radio. Tune to different stations occasionally to change the word selections you’ll be singing.

7. Play American Idol with your family. Pick a category of songs and have each person sing a song from that category. The categories could be show tunes, a song by a particular group, tunes from the 80’s, favorite camp songs, or any other groupings you can think of.

Words absorbed through these playful methods become second nature to your child. So the next time you start singing silly songs with your kids or sweet lullabies to your baby, do so with confidence that you are helping them on the road to literacy.

How Soon Should My Child Wear His Or Her First Shoes?

This is the big question. In my experience as a shoe fitter I have seen young parents keen to have their less than a year old babies wear their first shoes. The question I normally ask is ‘why do you want shoes for your child at this stage’? This question helps them to re-evaluate their decision to get shoes for their babies. At this stage in their development their feet is only cartilage and very pliable.

The best form of development for your child’s feet is no shoes at all until they start walking, to be on the safe side I will say for the first 12 - 18 months of their lives. This gives your child the opportunity for their feet to develop in their natural environment, free of any form of restrictions.

Did you know that even pre-walkers can damage your child’s feet if not fitted properly? You may very well ask how? Well some pre-walkers have elastic bands around the throat of the shoe, considering that a lot of babies have fleshy feet the elastic may be tight enough to disrupt the regular flow of blood to the part of the foot below the elastic band, resulting in bruising and swollen feet. On the other hand, if too loose you stand the chance of loosing your £20 investment in a pair of pre-walkers, as you may not know when they fall off, especially if you are out and about at the time.

So what is the best solution for babies and toddlers under 18 months? My suggestion will be socks that are easy to slide on and slide off. Ensure that they are not too tight and constantly monitor them so that you will know when your child begins to outgrow them. Also check for shrinkage and loss of elasticity after the first wash and ensure that the socks still fit properly, this is
