Keyword Spamming

One of the most difficult concepts for many people to understand is that stuffing keywords and key phrases into an article or creating a keyword density which is more than two to two and one half percent is actually recognized by the search engines as being keyword spam. In some instances, this may not be such a bad thing but continued posting of materials which use keyword stuffing in an effort to generate traffic is much more detrimental than many people really know or understand.

Keyword stuffing or putting in the same keyword phrase too many times will often result in the web page being completely banished by the search engines. The idea of keyword articles and keyword phrases is to generate traffic to a web site and not to get the site banned. If you want to generate traffic to your site, that is fully understandable, however stuffing the keywords, even if it does work in the short run, is not a viable method for keeping your sites in the top rankings.

It is absolutely and completely true that content is king. That has always been the case and always will be the case when you have a web site up in hopes of generating traffic and creating successful business ventures online strictly from the contents of the web page. That content however, needs to be written as more than just a means to stuff a bunch of keywords onto a web page if you want to be successful.

The content needs to be well thought out and written in a manner that is easy for visitors to the site to read, comprehend and when necessary, to act upon. Generally an article which is written in the manner of keyword spam is difficult for most people to read simply because of so much redundancy within the context of the article itself. There is no need to continue inserting the same keywords or keyword phrases over and over again. In fact, not only is it more likely to get you banned from the search engine results pages but it inevitably prevents another benefit to both the visitor and owner as well.

Continually stuffing the same keywords or phrases into one single article will often prevent the inclusion of other relevant keywords in relation to the same subject matter or topic that they are writing about. Unless someone has the means to write the thousands of articles it would take to include every relevant keyword or every phrase that has been searched, a modicum of diversity is necessary in the writing in order to include as many possible variations on the keywords as well.

It is necessary to reiterate the fact that stuffing keywords is spam. Spam is never a good idea and is always bad unless you are talking about luncheon meat and even then it is questionable at best. Using a diverse group of related keywords and phrases throughout the article will help you to attract anyone who searches around your keywords as well. This will result in more hits on the SERPs and more traffic being generated for the site itself.

Once the traffic has been generated and people begin coming to the site, the only to keep them coming back for more is to make sure that all of the information included in the content is actually worthwhile and not just something that has been thrown together simply to include your keywords or key phrases. If the content on the site does not contain actual materials with actual information and what the visitors want and need, it will quickly fade out and cease to be a marketable asset. Keywords and keyword phrases are an important tool for site promotion but the actual Content will always be King.

Article Marketing - Which of These 3 Article Marketing Mistakes Are You Making?

Article marketing is simply getting your information in front of as many eyes as possible in as many consumable forms as possible.

Here are three common mistakes that article marketers make and what to do instead.

Which mistakes are you making?

1. Failure to go deep - Going deep means writing enough articles to make a difference. So many marketers write just a few articles and that’s it. Then they say that article marketing does not work, when in fact it works great, some people just don’t work it! Article marketing is a numbers game. The higher the number of articles you have, the higher all your other numbers are going to be. So choose one of the higher ranked article directories and go deep with lots of articles on that one directory.

2. Failure to go wide - At the same time, others will only submit to one article directory and no others. While you can get results and traffic from just one article directory, why would you wan to limit yourself to just one when you can get results from many article directories? Going wide with your article distribution allows you to reach readers that you would not be able to reach otherwise.

3. Failure to go long - I see so many people start out all gung ho in article marketing and then fade out, complaining that article marketing does not work. You need to be in it for the long haul. You want to think of this as a long term business. I get new visitors and new subscribers every day from articles that I wrote and submitted years ago.

How To Make Sure Your Article Gets A Top Listing In Google

A top listing in Google almost guarantees a decent stream of traffic, and with traffic comes sales, right? Well, if you’ve done it right it does. I am assuming that you have already decided on a niche/market and a product to promote. The next step is choosing your keywords. A keyword is the phrase that searchers/surfers will type into a search engine when they are looking for information.

The top listings in Google will get all the clicks. Surfers rarely go past the second page of the search results. So the goal is to make sure your article gets a top listing in Google or else it is basically invisible on the web. Because no one will ever see it. You want to find a keyword that is very targeted, not general or broad and it must have less than 10,000 competing results. You can find out how many competing results a keyword has by typing it in quotes into Google. “like this”.

This will show you exactly how many web pages there are on the internet that contain that exact phrase….this is your competition.

Once you find a keyword phrase that has less than 10,000 competing web pages you will write your article focusing on that keyword phrase. Put it in the headline, first paragraph, somewhere in the middle and in the last paragraph. Make it sound and flow naturally, don’t force it in if it doesn’t sound right. After you have finished the article you will want to publish/submit it to a website or ezine that has a fairly high pagerank. (pagerank is a measurement of popularity and traffic) Your article will borrow this pagerank and it will help to make sure your article gets a top listing in Google.

The last thing you need to make sure of, and this will determine if your articles bring you any revenue, is be sure that your headline, article body, author bio box and product page link within the bio box are all very relevant to each other. Many times people don’t make any sales from their articles simply because there is a disconnect somewhere in those areas.

You may need a more in depth explanation of how to make sure your article gets a top listing in Google, but this article will get you headed in the right direction.

How to Turn Your PR Material into Online Articles

Most online article writers have several websites and lots of PR Material. It therefore makes sense to turn some of this material into online article content. However, as an online article writer, I must tell you that you must be careful to do this correctly, because it is rather easy to make mistakes and this can take away from your credibility and ruin what might have been a very nice article.

One of the easiest mistakes to make is allowing your article to maintain the 3rd person, that is often used in promotional or PR material, especially if someone else wrote it. Indeed, as an online article writer, I too have accidentally referred to myself in 3rd person.

Making this mistake can come from a number of reasons, not just when re-writing your own PR material, for instance, it can occur when writing an article where you refer to top people in a field and then refer to a story or event or experience of you own. When I am writing in 3rd person already about others, I find myself continuing, even when discussing myself.

This happens to me when I am writing while being totally disconnected from the event or experience, describing it from a different perspective. Indeed, I did write it myself, it was not written by someone else; I just forgot to step back into myself and write it from my POV. Instead writing from the perspective of a person witnessing the event or even considering the event from a future 20/20 hindsight and reflecting upon the event, where although it was I as one of the characters in the event or experience, as a writer or teller of said story.

When I describe it from what a by-stander might say they saw while witnessing it. Does that make sense? I will have to work on this 3rd person issue, as I write, but I bet I am not the only one who does this from time to time. You must also be careful not to do this in your writing.

Indeed, I have seen the other author’s articles that are in third person, and usually you can tell that it was obviously written by someone else and then used as content by the writer. If someone uses a PR piece and then modifies it, that is exactly what happens. I have at times tried to modify PR pieces for websites and then slip back into first person, while touching them up so they say what I wanted the message to say.

This looks rather funky, because the 1st and 3rd person mix, looks all messed up. I think if you use PR pieces lets say on your website and then make them into article content, really you know, you are better to start all over. The easiest way to start over is to take the PR piece and make a quick outline of the main points.

I. Paragraph 1

1. Point A

2. Point B

II. Paragraph II

1. Point A

2. Point B

III. Conclusion

And then re-write it, it will be much better that way and you will not look so silly in the end. This is how I re-do old PR web-content into articles if the in fact the PR content is even valid at worthy now in the present. Anyway, think on this, perhaps I can learn from anyone out there with advice on this subject. Sincerely - Lance

What Constitutes Duplicate Content And Does It Matter?

The debate about precisely what duplicate content is and whether duplicate content is a problem continues to rage and there is little sign of it going away. So precisely what is classed as duplicate content and is it really a problem?

It is generally thought that duplicate content is important and, though one prominent search engine optimization expert recently expressed the opposing view, even a cursory look at the mass of material which has been published on the subject recently will clearly show that this is a minority view.

But, if we accept the view that duplicate content is important, then how should we go about defining duplicate content? For example, if I create an article for an article directory and then alter that same article for submission to a second article directory how are the search engines going to check my two articles and decide whether they contain duplicate content? The plain fact is that we do not know, but here are this publisher’s opinions.

When duplicate content checking was initially undertaken by the search engines it was very much a case of comparing one web page as a whole with another and no attempt was made to begin dividing up the two pages and comparing individual page elements. At that time it was possible to make use of identical content and just add an introduction and conclusion to one of the two pages and that would be enough to escape the attention of the duplicate content filters. Sadly for many webmasters those days are now a distant memory.

The search engines now cut up the two pages and examine individual elements and it is here that we find the core of today’s discussion. Most people agree that attention is now focused upon the central content of a web page rather than the structure of the web page. Many site owners make use of templates when building their pages which define the structure of each page including things like navigation bars, headers and footers. This is generally felt to be acceptable and the search engines do not class this as duplicate content. What the search engines are examining is the main content contained within the body of the page. But exactly how do they go about examining this page content?

Some people believe that this examination is carried out at ‘block’ level (looking at individual sentences or paragraphs), while other people argue that filtering searches for phrases or possibly even for individual words. Nobody really knows of course although it might seem reasonable to conclude that the most likely basis of comparison would be to make use of either sentence or phrase matching.

Sentence matching is relatively clear-cut and merely involves cutting both pages up into chunks based upon the page’s punctuation. Take a look, for example, this sentence:

It is quite easy to get a good deal on a computer, as long as you know where to shop.

This would either be classed as a single sentence or two sentences, depending upon whether you use the classical definition of a full-stop as being the end of a sentence or choose to adopt a flexible approach and make use of other punctuation marks, such as commas.

Matching at the phrase level is somewhat more complicated. What constitutes a phrase? Should a phrase consist of 2 or 3 or 4 or 20 words?

For now let’s say that a phrase is 3 words. In this case the following phrases would all be classed as duplicate content if they appeared on two pages which were being checked:

One way to
You can get
The answer is
At that time
In the end
In those days
Take a look
Did you know

These phrases are all regular everyday phrases which could be used on pages about tropical fish, weight loss, pay per click advertising or any other subject you care to mention. Now some people would say that the search engines do check pages down to this level. Indeed, when I asked the staff for one particular content checker (Dupecop) about the manner in which their program checked for duplicate content they said:

“DupeCop compares both individual words and 3-word phrases. It also ignores all punctuation and scans across sentences”

It was not a surprise therefore that when I checked several articles with their system guess is as good as mine.

Over the last few years I have written and published literally hundreds of articles and closely watched the results in terms of duplicate content penalties, as far as it is possible for any of us to do so. Upon the basis of my own experience I believe that filtering is not conducted down to the level of short phrases but probably stops at sentence level. Consequently, as long as you are changing your articles down to sentence level, you should not have a problem in avoiding the content filters. Indeed, even if one or two of your sentences are duplicated you ought to be fine.

Breakthrough Article Marketing - Revealed - 7 Phenomenal Ways to Breakthrough With Article Marketing

Successful article marketers always say that they should never be complacent. Even amid successful article marketing campaigns, one should continually learn the various methods in order to improve their skills. Uncover below the seven phenomenal ways to breakthrough with article marketing:

1. The articles that you intend to use should be 100 percent original. In other words, there should never be any plagiarism.

2. The articles must all be useful for the readers. This should be done so that not only will the readers be enticed to go over the article but to even perhaps recommend it to another potential reader.

3. The articles must be well-written and should be easy to read. This does not necessarily mean that the pieces should be award winning literary works. Just make sure that the articles have good grammar and properly spelled words.

4. The articles should contain a “call to action.” This is like giving the reader the sense of urgency and the need for the reader to immediately do something in order to address a need. For instance, if your website is offering a hefty discount but only for a period of a month, you should be able to include words that could compel the reader to immediately go to your website and avail of the special offer.

5. The articles must be relevant to the theme or topic of your website. This is pretty much self-explanatory.

6. The articles must adhere to ideal word counts. The norm is 500-600 words for regular articles. Brief articles may contain 300 to 450 words. Don’t turn your readers away with articles that are either too lengthy or way too short.

7. The articles should be written in the proper format and should never contain offensive language. The articles should not also encourage racism and illegal activities.

Best Article Marketing - Revealed - 7 Amazing Secrets to Increase Your Article Marketing

Article marketing is the act of writing original articles and then publishing them online with the primary purpose of generating traffic for a certain target website. The articles are usually published or submitted to article directories or forwarded to distribution sites. Here are seven amazing secrets that budding article marketing practitioners should know:

1. The articles must be original work. In other words, the articles should never have been swiped off from another person’s website or blog. Plagiarism is the worst offense you can ever commit as an article marketing practitioner. You must be very careful with this.

2. The articles must be well written. This does not mean that the articles should be of top notch, award winning quality. This just means that the articles should have the proper grammar and correctly spelled words.

3. The articles must have purposes. In other words, the readers should be able to find the articles useful.

4. The articles must be relevant to the topic, product or services offered in your website. After all, what’s the point of writing articles that aren’t remotely connected to your website? Ergo, if your article is about fashion, it only means that your website should also have something to do with fashion.

5. The articles must be compelling enough in order for the reader to do something or take further action. In other words, your article must be able to fully address a need.

6. The articles must have fresh content. As much as possible, cite new and updated statistics and information.

7. The articles must be submitted to the various directories or forwarded to the distribution sites as regular as possible. This is to ensure maximum exposure for your articles. Remember – the more articles you have online, the better!
